What is CNC?
CNC Stands for Computer Numerical Control. With CNC control, you basically can cut any shape you designed, on a milling machine Some may even utilise the machine to run small production from your home to start custom parts making. (For hobbyist, we see majority refer to a CNC mill rather than lathe) To get CNC going, you will need :-
- A unit of CNC Ready Mill
- 3 Suitable stepper motor, 130oz/in or greater.
- Stepper driver for 3 Axis. We recommend Xylotex bipolar driver board.
- Power supply for driver board.
- Parallel 25 Pin cable from driver board to PC
- PC/laptop min. Pentium 1Ghz and above
- G code processor. We recommend Windows base Mach 3
How to wire the stepper motor to your driver?
Basing on Nema23 stepper motor from Kelinginc model KL23H256-21-8B Bipolar ( can also be configured Unipolar / bipolar series or bipolar parallel)
Stepper comes in 8 different colour wire

I had chosen to go with bipolar parallel for maximum torque. So we will follow the parallel circuit below:-

A picture tells a thousand words, here my connection from 8 wires to 4 wires taken using a handphone camera

And a picture of connection to xylotex driver board ( flip over your xylotex driver board to see the respective connector for X, Y, Z & A)
